Ramadan is the ninth month of Islamic calendar. It is the month of excitement for Muslims. It is the month of reading and reciting the whole Quran, the month of Tahajjud and the month of Tarawih prayers, of Sadaqah and Zakah-ul-Fitr.

In this holy month Muslims are refrain from eating, drinking, that is in excess or ill-natured; from dawn until sunset. Ramadan is the month of forgiveness, guidance and refraining from doing sins. Muslims purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds.

In this month Holy Quran was sent down to earth which is a complete guidance for all muslims. It is the month of generosity and seclusion.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims stop eating and drinking anything from  dawn till desk. They get up before dawn to eat sehar or sehri. After that they offer their fajar prayers and wait for the Maghrib prayer call. They break their fast at Maghrib prayer time and have meal known as iftari. They may continue to eat and drink until the next morning sehar time. Then this process continues for the whole month of Ramadan.
