Ever wondered what one would do in the pressing summers when the rooms get hotter as we are put in an oven. Ever wondered what we would do in the times when there would be no cooling system to protect us from the hot weathers. We have become so atoned to the technologies that we do not even give a second thought to its importance. The systems known as air conditioning system mostly abbreviated by common people as AC helps in protecting us from those extreme temperature days. A more advanced and a more efficient way of cooling is the invention of central cooling systems.
In simple words Air conditioning is the removal of heat from indoor air for thermal comfort. In other words we would call any system as air conditioning system that changes the condition of air. Air conditioner is an appliance or any machine which stabilizes the air temperature and humidity of any area. Central cooling system is also a type of air conditioning system.

Previously the common cooling unit we saw in most offices and homes were window air conditioners but now as the technology have advanced and new innovations have occurred, we see the split unit air conditioners in common which consists of the indoor unit and outdoor unit separately. These are what we have central air conditioning systems which are used in the bigger buildings when the whole building is to be cooled. It is a system which uses ducts to distribute cooled and dehumidified air. The working of the central cooling system is such that when the warm air in the buildings or offices blows across the indoor evaporator coil, the heat energy is transferred to the refrigerant in the coil where the warm air is cooled. After that the refrigerant is pumped back to the compressor and this whole process goes on in cycle. The heat that was absorbed b the refrigerant would move outside the home and the cool air is blown inside. The central cooling systems also remove the moisture contributing to humidity present in the area. It is condensed out of the air.

Usually the cooling system is combined with central heating systems because both have the same ductwork to condition the air in the home.
These systems we can get in various sizes, cooling capacities and prices depending on the area to be cooled and the heat that is generated in that area. Central cooling systems have the added benefits as compared to the previous models of cooling systems. When the air handling unit is turned on the warm air inside the rooms from various parts of the building is drawn through return air ducts. This air moves through the filter where dust particles and lint are removed. So all in all it provides a cleaner cooled air which ensures healthier, allergy-free and more breathable environment. For this purpose the air conditioning filter should be cleaned on routine basis. Secondly, as the condenser unit is placed outside the home, it produces lesser noise as compared to free-standing air conditioning unit.
