You joined the gym because you needed a place to train. But now, the place you once looked to for sanity has become a place you dread going. You are sick of the people with the head bands who never train hard enough to sweat. You are sick of the dude who is constantly hitting curls in the squat cage. If you see another iPod velcroed around a 14-inch bicep you are going to scream. It's time to break away from the commercial gym and get your own equipment.
So where do you start?
Here are three ways you can begin building your own home gym right now.
1. Ebay and Craigslist - In January, thousands of people driven by New Year Resolutions bought weights to train with at their house. Roughly 5% will use them. The rest will either let them collect dust, or list them on Ebay or Cragslist. Start scouting now because you won't believe the deals you'll get on bars and plates.
2. Keg Party - Get your own Keg, open it up and fill it with water. Keg Lifting will make you as strong as an ox. Go to the distributor in your area and ask if they have old beaten up kegs. You may just get one for free. If not, then just have a keg party with your buddies and keep the empty. So you'll be out $10 to $40. For the benefit you'll get from the training, it will be worth it.
3. Climbing Board - Wrestlers use Climbing Boards for a reason - they make you tough as nails and give you a strong Grip. Get an 8 to 10 foot 2 by 12 piece of lumber from the lumber yard and drill ? or 1-inch holes into it across its length. Get some 8-inch dowels matching the size of the holes. Hang the board up to the studs in your cellar or garage and get to work.
Life's too short to deal with the Commercial Gym Crowd. Build some Home Made Strength!

If you are fed up with the riff raff who constantly annoys you and gets in your way, you should bite the bullet and start up your own home gym, TODAY. That is what I did and I have never looked back.
