Paid video game testing isn't all that difficult. If truth be told, you can actually go so far as to say that it's a fairly easy job that does not demand excessive effort. All you have to do is boot the game up, play through it, write down the game's problems, then collect a paycheck once you're finished. Seriously, does this sound like a hard job to you? I doubt it!
You Need NOT Apply For Video Game Tester Jobs When...
- You do not possess at least three years of gaming experience. To be honest, you don't have to be considered a gaming guru that has mastered each and every video game on the market. But then again, you do need to have elementary knowledge of the video game industry and how game development works. The more experience and understanding you've got, the more well off you'll be with regards to finding video game beta tester jobs.
- You aren't at least 18 years of age. Some companies have been able to employ (under restrictions) gamers who're sixteen years old. On the other hand, this is generally a rare occurrence in the world of professional beta game testing.
- You do not possess a next-gen game console and/or a powerful gaming PC. Possessing both is better, but either should do. If you are not up to date with the latest video gaming technologies, you don't have any hope .
- You do not have a beta game testing resume. No resume means no consideration of any kind, plain & simple. Being a video game tester means performing actual work that MUST BE taken seriously. This is not a spare time activity you do on the weekends -- this is a SERIOUS job.
- You've lousy grammar skills. Video game testers fill out a lot of reports & forms which are used by video game programmers to repair & improve video games. If the reports are not competently detailed and easily understood, the software engineers can't do their job. If a programmer is unable to do his job, it more often than not means the tester has failed to do his.
If the 5 elements listed above are not an issue for you, then you're indeed a prospect for expert beta game testing. All that is left to do is to begin hunting for game testing jobs in your town -- and if you know where to search, then it will not take you more than a week or two!
