In a crisis situation things can happen very fast and in a manner that no one expects, sometimes chaotic events can be confusing to even the people that were there at the time. Security camera footage can provide an accurate and unbiased account of the way things really happened.

A local tanning salon in northern Illinois was doing well and had previously learned the value of investing in a high quality security camera system. This business was thriving and usually had several customers a day. But even being in a busy area with a significant amount of foot traffic, won't necessarily keep a place from being the target of criminals.

The Saturday morning started with business as usually at the salon, with a fair amount of customers coming in to work on their tan. Just after six PM a customer in his forties came in that didn't have an appointment and while brandishing a hand gun, announced that he was there to robbing the place. He pointed the gun at an employee and made her tie the hands and feet of another a customer who was in the process of getting her treatment. A short time later another customer came in for his scheduled appointment and was also accosted by the gunman. This customer was ordered to tie his hands together while the thief kept his gun pointed at him. Instead of complying, the newest customer snatched the hand gun away from the would be robber. Then the man who came to the salon to steal moved to try to take his gun back and the customer shot him twice.

Soon after the thief was shot, the police showed up on the scene in response to a call quietly placed one of the employees. They had the gunman quickly rushed to a near by hospital to have his wounds treated, but he died a short while after arriving. Fortunately, the entire incident was captured by the store's security cameras and the footage that was recorded showed the police that the man who fired the shots was not the criminal in this instance. The customer stayed on the scene, cooperated with the police and was let go without being charged with any crime. After more investigation, the police came to believe that the robber was also the man responsible for a recent 'honeybee' shooting spree in which three people were shot and one of them died.

A security camera system that produces video with a high level of detail is great way to make sure that the guilty parties are help responsible and to protect the innocent. Thanks to the footage that was recorded, the police were able to determine exactly what happened in the tanning salon that day and to clear the man who defended himself of any wrong doing.
