In this age of busy lifestyles, people are looking for ways to do things more quickly but without sacrificing quality. Luckily there are now rice cookers that not only avoid all the mess but produce perfect rice every time so that they meet both these demands. Everyone knows how long and difficult a task it is to cook rice on a traditional stove because it is nearly impossible to get the rice just right and there is all the mess to clean up later on.

The benefits of including rice in your diet are well known. Rice is full of carbohydrates which form a healthy energy source. It is very low in salt and fat; indeed it is cholesterol-free. Any balanced diet should include rice and so the latest rice cookers are just what is needed since they also make rice of a quality you would normally only get in an expensive restaurant.

Rice cookers can be purchased in a wide range of sizes and some have more functions than you could ever use. This can make it difficult to choose the features that you need let alone the right model. A good starting point is to decide how much rice you are likely to want to cook. For one or two people then a 4 or 5 cup cooker will be more than enough but a family of four will need and 8 to 10 cup cooker. Bear in mind that you need to consider occasions when you might have friends to dinner; these are the times when you really need your rice to be at its best.

Even the most basic rice cookers will allow you to set a timer that will switch the cooker off when the rice is ready. But you don't need to spend much more to get a lot more features which will turn out to be a great benefit over time. Probably the biggest benefit of the latest automatic rice cookers is the fact that you get a perfect texture - not too dry and not too wet. With a bit of practice you will get the right consistency every time.

Why don't we have a quick look at the high end rice cookers. In particular I am referring to the Zojirushi rice cookers. It is difficult not to talk about rice cookers without talking about Zojirushi at the same time. Yes, in general they do cost more but they almost become a complete kitchen in one appliance. As well as the basic rice cooking, they will allow you to steam vegetables and other ingredients, they will also keep rice warm after it has cooked without it burning.

If you want the best possible rice cooker then you should invest in a fuzzy logic rice cooker. The name may sound strange but they use computer technology to produce by far the best rice.

Rice cookers with fuzzy logic ensure that the rice is evenly cooked no matter what type of rice you use. Fuzzy logic rice cookers have settings that allow you to cook different kinds of rice such as brown, rice, sushi, red, quick cook and rinse-free rice; even porridge. They will automatically adapt if you should put more or less water than is required so that you still get a good look and feel.
