Each year, more and more students are choosing to study abroad. Not only do these individuals get the benefit of a quality education, but they are enriched by the experience of learning the culture and traditions of a country other than their own. This experience is beneficial when prospective employers assess your resume. International companies will take this information into consideration when surveying possible candidates for employment. Most countries welcome foreign exchange students, but Australia is oftentimes the first choice for many students desiring to study abroad.
Australia is seeing an increasing number of international students every year. Approximately 20% of the student population is comprised of foreign exchange individuals. People are realizing a vast number of benefits when deciding to study in this country. Australia's cost of living and course fees are generally lower than that of the UK or the US. Quality assured qualifications ensure that educational and training programs rank amongst the highest in the world. The Australian government has implemented codes of conduct to ensure a stable, supportive and regulated teaching and learning environment.
Regardless of a student's place of origin, they are welcome here. Since the 911 incident, government and educational institutions have done everything within their power to make Australia a safe place for people to live and study. One of the ways to instill quality and safety standards is through the student visa process.
Specific criteria and requirements must be met before the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship will grant a visa.
The first thing a student must do is find a course and the university that has the business courses they wish to attend. Once the institution has been chosen, an enrollment form must be filled out and signed. These are available for download at the school's website. Next the Hello Aussie Student Services will send an "offer of a place in course" letter to the visa processing office. If approved, the letter must be signed and returned. The processing office will then do an assessment to see if all necessary requirements can be met. Assessments are evaluated on a level 1 to 5 depending on country of origin and the sector of education. When applying for a visa, students must apply for the specific sub class related to the course of study.
Students must be able to prove financial capacity and English proficiency. An individual proves financial capacity by sending payment for coursework ( this may be for 1 semester or for 1 year), tuition and enrollment fees in addition to the overseas student health cover premium. A physical exam and medical tests may be required. An Hello-Aussie Student Services counselor can assist with questions relating to requirements.
After the necessary requirements are met, a student will be issued an electronic course of enrollment, or eCoE, by the Australian education provider. This is the required acceptable enrollment documentation needed to apply for a student visa. A student then must attach the eCoE to the visa application and send it the Department of Immigration and Citizenship office. The www.immi.gov.au/students/checklist website provides information on forms that need to be filled out and sent. Upon acquiring a student visa, flight, airport pickup and accommodation arrangements can be made.
Hello-Aussie Student Services can assist with airport pickup and accommodations if necessary. Benefits to having a student visa over a visitor or a work and holiday visa include being able to stay in the country for longer than 3 months. Students are also allowed to work part time while attending classes. Students are allowed to leave and reenter the country with a multiple entry visa. Counselors at www.hello-aussie.com.au are available to provide information and advice pertaining to questions about education or visas.
